This Speedmaster Grey Side of the Moon watch pays homage to OMEGA’s history of space exploration. The 44.25mm diameter case is crafted from polished-brushed grey ceramic, plasma-treated. The brushed bezel is also made of grey ceramic and features a laser-etched tachymeter scale coated with white Super-LumiNova.
The sapphire crystal reveals the exquisite movement, with the plates and bridges displaying a laser-etched lunar surface pattern, highlighting OMEGA’s connection to the moon. The hollowed-out grey anodized aluminum dial is engraved with the lunar surface, while the back mirror reveals the lunar surface.
The watch features a small seconds display at 9 o’clock, a 30-minute recorder at 3 o’clock, and a 12-hour recorder at 6 o’clock. The moonwatch-style hands and beveled indexes are grayed and coated with white luminous coating (which emits a soft green light in the dark).
This watch is equipped with the precise OMEGA Co-Axial Master Chronometer calibre 3869 and features an engraving on the caseback with the famous quote from Apollo 8 command module pilot, Jim Lovell: “THE MOON IS ESSENTIALLY GREY”.
The watch is presented on a grey rubber strap with a lunar surface pattern on the bottom, secured with a ceramic folding clasp and a ceramic-coated titanium spring clip.
